Here is just a sample of great team building activities we did around Port Douglas:

BIKE RALLY

Form your teams and set off armed with a bike, helmet, digital camera and a set of questions, along with directions and information on the area. The tour takes you all over the area, including the best lookouts, the local sightseeing highlights and maybe a quick sneak into one of the local pubs. The questions and information are designed to give participants an insight into the history of the area. Team Co-operation and ingenuity will be tested as you are asked to gather extra objects and information in return for the bonus points.

“I could not have been more pleased with the service provided by M.A.D. From our first meeting, their dedication to providing the highest level of service was apparent. I would have no hesitation in using M.A.D's services again.“ - A. Horton, BML Australia

AMAZING RACE

Port Douglas Teambuilding Amazing Race 2.jpg

Armed with a map and clues, racers make their way around our set course, covering areas of interest at the hotel and in town.  By foot, bikes, buggies or other suitable transport options, they must make their way to all of the designated sites completing all given tasks on the way. They will also have to answer a series of questions that pertain to the area, and to collect items in their team colour to decorate their team totem. Presentation can take place poolside over a couple of hard-earned beverages or during dinner that night. We suggest a fantastic little prize, a coconut medallion, for the winning team members.

The Teambuilding Day was a great success. And I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to bring

their groups together on a more personal level.“ -Y. Lemberg, ITM.

BILLY KART

“Not only did the competition increase – but so did the camaraderie” -J. P. Severs, Germany

Half way through proceedings teams will be given time to rest up where they will be given 20 minutes to create a sand masterpiece. Buckets spades and other sculpting equipment will be provided with plenty of natural props around to help you out. A panel of judges will decide on the best castle, based on size and creativity.

BUILD A RAFT

IMG_5822.JPG

Something different for our participants today....This activity will not only take our VIPs out of their comfort zone but will create a fun and lively activity creating the camaraderie that our team building activities are designed to do. Our facilitators will meet the group in the foyer of the  hotel and announce the preselected teams.   Each team will be given a coloured bandana to distinguish the teams. After the teams have been announced a briefing will take place on what the afternoons activities will entail. Teams will then head in search of their materials, some stranger than others before heading back to the beach for the sink or swim raft challenge. Teams will need to design, build and trial  their vessels before taking to the high seas (or a nice safe resort lagoon or pool). Will your team sink or swim?

CAR RALLY

Boys&Girls.jpg

This event creates camaraderie as well as dealing with concepts, such as navigating and orienteering skills and interaction with the locals. Not to forget the beautiful surrounds! Vehicles weave their way through amazing coastlines and stunning inland scenery. Stopover at one of these breathtaking destinations for a sumptuous gourmet lunch. Teams have to work together to maximise their points and minimise their errors using their clues to guide them through all check- points. Questions can be tailored to the need of your company, whether it is environmental, cultural, company branded, or involving any special theme (eg. 70's), or a topical event (e.g. Olympic Games).

“You have to experience it yourself to see how much fun this is… amazing scenery… amazing

organisation!” - Bob H. Australia.

CHOCOHOLICS CHALLENGE

holding-chocolate2.jpg

Your team will be given a list of ingredients to buy, within a budget.  On arrival you will be welcomed with apron and hat and this is where the fun begins. The facilitator  (MC) will first give a creative address on the origins of chocolate and how it fits into our everyday lives. The participants will undertake various challenges in teams to finish up with their very own box of chocolates. During this process the MC will conduct on the spot interviews that will be displayed live on the big screen to fuel the competition throughout the activity. As a group they will agree on their concept and then put the motions in place. The chefs will have the job of creating the chocolate to work with from raw ingredients and then comes the concept, design and logo for their chocolates before decorating their boxes in their own unique fashion. Each team will have their own Chocolatier to help.

CORAL BRIEF

Cape Tribulation.jpg
Water activities low Isles.jpg

With Rising water temperatures being the major contributor to Coral Bleaching events, Coral Watch is a global program where the input from everyday users of the Reef can help Scientists from the University of Queensland monitor and protect Reefs around the globe. Coral Bleaching is the whitening of coral due to the loss of the symbiotic algae that lives in the corals tissue. In healthy coral algae supplies energy and provides colour. During bleaching events due to high water temperature the coral animal expels the algae from their tissue which leads to a the change in colour. As the coral expel more algae the lighter the coral becomes in colour.

Participants are briefed on the basics of corals science, as well as how to use the tools they have been given for the activity, before being broken into working groups. Each group/team is given the tools they need to conduct their research, including a coral health chart, underwater slate, and underwater camera. Depending on the location of the their reef trip, participants can conduct their research whilst diving, snorkeling or walking in the shallows. The survey can be run a few different ways (random, transect or by species) depending on the choice of the team. Once the observations have been collected and given back to the facilitators, the results are entered online and graphs will be immediately generated to show how healthy the reef is and which of the corals seem to be more susceptible to bleaching in that area. This information is stored in a global data base and will be used for the ongoing monitoring of reef systems globally.

Creamy cucumber sambos with a Pavlova chaser for those not wishing for a pie, and a XXXX with the locals. After a few ends your team won't know what to do apart from relax and enjoy life in the slow lane. Port Douglas Teambuilding ATV.JPG

Participants will meet in the foyer of the hotel by their MAD guide who will walk them to the park adjacent to the hotel.
On arrival in the park, they find a motley band of castaways who are in fact their team facilitators. The group is broken up into tribes, given bandanas and face paint and receive instructions for the activities this afternoon. Around the park area there are a number of challenges that each tribe has to complete in competition with the other tribes. Depending on budget the challenges could include large inflatable items such as mazes and slides. On completion of each one of these challenges, not only there are points awarded, but colourful items to adorn the team totem are given out.
Once the series of challenges gave been completed, each team has time to decorate their totems and to invent their own war cry to perform in front of the rest of the group. Points will be awarded for the totems as well as the war cry performance. It is now time to tally the result and announce the winners.

TEAM BUILDING WITH A TWIST

2012-08-23 15.46.57.jpg

Special Note:  This activity is a mystery for both the children and the participants involved! This is a really unique team building event that combines an opportunity for your VIPs to hone skills like communication, creativity, leadership and teamwork, with a chance to give back to the local community. Everyone is informed of their goal - to build a bike.  The problem for them though is that they have no parts! The parts for all of the bikes must be earned through the completion of different challenges.  Once the parts are sourced and the bikes are completed, the fun begins.  Now, here comes the charitable part. During this whole time, your team is led to believe this is simply a team building exercise; they aren't informed of the final destination of the bikes that they're building.  Once all the teams have completed their bikes, children will be brought in, and your teams will each get to give their newly built bikes to a needy child. These children will be selected from the local community by Variety.
